St. Joseph is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 8,789. Chicago lies about 55 miles across Lake Michigan. It is the county seat of Berrien County6. Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, it is the site of the Venetian Festival, an event that draws thousands annually to its shores. It is also home of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

St. Joseph and Benton Harbor are locally collectively known as the "Twin Cities."
